AC Dave Heating and Air loves to bring you Maintenance Tips

🔥 AC Dave Heating and Air Maintenance Tips 🔥

As part of our commitment to our clientele, AC Dave Heating and Air loves to bring you maintenance tips. So as the temperature drops and we enter the peak heating season, it’s essential to ensure that your heating system is in top-notch condition. But what if you encounter an issue during these peak times and need to wait for our professional assistance? Fear not! Here are some educational tips to help you maintain your heating system until we arrive:

1️⃣ Check your thermostat: Start by ensuring that your thermostat is set to the desired temperature and functioning correctly. Sometimes, a simple adjustment or battery replacement can solve the problem.

2️⃣ Inspect your air filters: Dirty or clogged air filters can restrict airflow and put unnecessary strain on your heating system. Take a moment to check and replace them if needed. Clean filters promote better indoor air quality and improve system efficiency.

3️⃣ Clear the area around your heating system: Make sure there are no obstructions or debris near your heating unit. Keep the surrounding area clean and free from any flammable materials to prevent potential hazards.

4️⃣ Check for tripped circuit breakers: If your heating system suddenly stops working, it might be due to a tripped circuit breaker. Locate your electrical panel and check if any breakers have been tripped. Reset them if necessary, but if it happens repeatedly, it’s best to consult a professional.

5️⃣ Don’t ignore strange noises or smells: Unusual sounds or odors coming from your heating system could indicate a problem. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, turn off the system and wait for our experts to diagnose and fix the issue.

Remember, these tips are meant to help you maintain your heating system temporarily until our team arrives. It’s always recommended to schedule regular professional maintenance to ensure optimal performance and prevent unexpected breakdowns.

At AC Dave Heating and Air, we’re here to provide you with reliable and efficient heating services. Our team of experts is just a call away, ready to assist you during these peak times. Stay warm and cozy, everyone! ❄️🔥

HOT DOGS & KOOL CATS

HOT DOGS & KOOL CATS

Too Much can be deadly for Hot Dogs & Kool Cats

Take care of those Hot Dogs & Kool cats this summer. Be mindful when exercising your pet. As well as adjusting the intensity and duration of exercise to the temperature, on scorching days, limit activity to early morning or evening hours, and being especially careful with pets with white-colored ears, who are more susceptible to skin cancer, and short-nosed pets, who typically have difficulty breathing. Asphalt gets especially hot and can burn your pet’s paws. Therefore, walk your dog on the grass if possible. Always carry water with you to keep your dog from dehydrating.

Fans may not be enough.

Pets respond differently to heat than humans do. (Dogs, for instance, sweat primarily through their feet.) For one thing, fans don’t cool off pets as effectively as they do people. If leaving pets indoors, keep your cooling system around 76 -78 degrees. Not only should you make sure they have constant access to fresh water and place a fan in their favorite resting area. Cooling mats are also a good idea (Amazon has plenty to choose from).

Shade & Water for outside.

Any time your pet is outside, make sure they have protection from heat and sun and plenty of fresh, cold water. In heat waves, add ice to water when possible. Tree shade and tarps are ideal especially since they don’t obstruct airflow. A doghouse does not provide relief from heat it makes it worse.

Watch for signs of HeatStroke

Extreme temperatures can cause heatstroke. Some signs of heatstroke are heavy panting, glazed eyes, a rapid heartbeat, difficulty breathing, excessive thirst, lethargy, fever, dizziness, lack of coordination, profuse salivation, vomiting, a deep red or purple tongue, seizure, and unconsciousness.

Animals are at particular risk for heat stroke if they are very old, very young, overweight, not conditioned to prolonged exercise, or have heart or respiratory disease. For example, some breeds of dogs—such as boxers, pugs, shih tzus, and other dogs and cats with short muzzles—will have a much harder time breathing in extreme heat. The Humane Society has more info on this topic.

Call us if your system is not maintaining your desired temperature.

If your car is running hot, you take it to a mechanic. Likewise, if your home is not maintaining a comfortable temperature, we come to you. Maintaining 76- 78 degrees within the home will ensure your comfort, and your pet’s comfort too.  It will also cut those dreaded bills down. Call AC Dave Heating & Air today to schedule your Summer Maintenance. Call: 661 270 1961 and our professional office team is standing by to help you.

Why can it take so long?

Why can it take so long?

Scheduling with your local HVAC company
It is officially Summer, with warmer days (and nights). Spending more time at the pool. You want to be cool when you come indoors from the pool, however, you find your unit not working. Therefore, you call your HVAC company only to find their schedule is full.  That last part might not be on the list of anyone looking forward to summertime, but it’s accurate. You may be asking, Why can it take so long?
Most people tend to not think about their HVAC, evaporative cooler, heat pumps, or ductless split units until they aren’t working. The first thing they think of is let’s call the HVAC company! Well…as I said most people don’t think about their units until something is wrong. In the same way with rising temperatures, air conditioning units tend to break down as they work harder to cool homes.
For one thing, this means long busy days for techs who are working in the hot temperatures to fix or replace units. This results in longer wait times for the air conditioner to be repaired or replaced.

Why does it take so long? I have a pre-paid maintenance plan

Home maintenance customers can fall victim to this surge in broken A/C units, too! Although it can be frustrating for a homeowner to not have their air conditioner fixed on the same day they call in for service, it’s all part of the season. Here’s why you may not get same-day service for your HVAC unit and what you can do.

WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG?

Our Technicians Schedule

When a homeowner/customer calls AC Dave Heating & Air, they may be surprised, or even frustrated, when they find the schedule for the day is full. to get an experienced technician out to their home. AC Dave Heating & Air understands this frustration, and we know how uncomfortable it can be when it’s hot in your home! All HVAC technicians know this, too, and try to help as much as possible and are working long hours to help keep you comfortable. Our goal is to provide quality service, therefore, we must keep our technician’s safety utmost when it comes to rising temperatures.

Why does it take so long?            I’m just around the corner

HVAC companies schedule, by area, by need (if your unit is on the roof we may need to get there first thing in the morning for the safety of our technicians, installations of unit replacements take a day maybe two that will fill up the schedule also. Their appointments include people who have already called and scheduled appointments for a diagnosis. Sometimes technicians must return to homes the tech has already visited that need an AC repair or full replacement.

When scheduling our technicians, we plan ahead and make sure that if in a certain area, on a certain day, we maximize the number of air conditioning units they can repair in a day. (It allows us to provide service to more customers and is much more effective to drive a few blocks to several different houses than to spend an hour driving back and forth between cities to repair or diagnose two air conditioning units.)

With our Pre-paid maintenance agreement customers, we generally plan for those calls months in advance. This is just another benefit we offer to our maintenance clientele. When emergencies, should arise. If the client in question is elderly, infirm, or has young children, we do our best to squeeze them into our already busy schedules. In the same way, we know heat can play a devastating role for these people.

What You Can Do

If you are not in an emergency situation but your air conditioner is out, there are a number of things you can do to stay cool.  As you wait for your HVAC unit to be repaired or replaced this includes: drinking lots of water to stay hydrated, staying in cool parts of your home, and using fans and dampened cloths. AC Dave Heating & Air has made a list of things you can use to cool down while you wait to make yourself more comfortable. Use these tips to prevent dehydration, keep yourself healthy, and keep cool. We will have your HVAC up and running soon!

Call AC Dave Heating & Air now at 661 270 1961, to ensure we get you on our schedule as soon as possible. We thank you for allowing us to be of service.

Thermostat doesn’t turn on / thermostat screen is blank

This two-week informational topic will discuss the most common 8 reasons why your thermostat is not working, whether that be that it’s not turning on or that the screen is blank.

WEEK ONE:

Incorrect thermostat setting: If the thermostat has been turned off, its display will be blank. Thermostats should be left on throughout the year rather than being turned off, but accidental adjustments are possible. Verify this setting and ensure the thermostat itself is on.

Dead Batteries: Check your batteries often to ensure this is not the issue. Without batteries, the thermostat cannot turn on or control the heating unit.

No electrical Power: Some thermostats are hardwired and powered by the home’s electrical system. A tripped breaker or blown fuse in the electrical panel may prevent the thermostat from receiving power. Resetting the power or replacing the blown fuse will correct this issue.

Loose Wiring: If thermostat wiring becomes loose, its operation may be disrupted. An HVAC technician here at AC Daves Heating and Air is able to identify issues with wiring and electrical connections within the thermostat/ Sometimes these issues are repairable, while other times it may be necessary to replace the thermostat.

Please make sure you always put your HVAC system in the hands of a licensed Technician. Call us if you need assistance. TEL: 661 270 1961.  LIC # 877683

Furnace Filter become clogged faster than Usual… Part3

Furnace Filter become clogged faster than Usual… Part 3

High levels of indoor contaminants:

High levels of indoor air pollutants create a bigger burden for furnace filters and they become clogged much faster. Filters typically don’t last as long in homes with indoor pets or where indoor smoking takes place. Weatherizing the home to prevent winter heat loss traps contaminants indoors which can increase this issue.

If you haven’t changed your winter filters out yet, you may want to start thinking about it soon. If you are unsure what filters you need, or you would prefer a professional Licensed HVAC company to come out and do a service call, please call us here at AC Dave Heating & Air. We are here to serve.

My Air Conditioner Is Not Cooling

My Air Conditioner Is           Not Cooling

How to fix it
:

An air conditioner that is running but isn’t cooling is one of the most common problems. Unfortunately, it has a number of potential causes. It could be a dirty air filter, low refrigerant level, or a blocked condensate drain. You can also check for ice around the coils or a dirty outdoor compressor. Or, you may need to add more coolant to your system. Another problem: it may simply be too hot outside to cool your home to your liking. Most air conditioners can only cool to about 20 degrees lower than outside air temperatures.

Contact AC Dave Heating & Air to schedule a technician if your Air conditioner is running but isn’t cooling. 661 270 1961.
