Help your system keep its cool
Shade
By giving your HVAC some shade, you can improve its efficiency and prolong its lifespan. When you are landscaping, add some shade for your HVAC. This will reduce heat absorption and allow it to operate using less energy.
Remove Debris
Rake away leaves and grass clippings to protect your system from blockages, which reduce airflow. Consequently, this will also prevent critters from taking up residence in or around your system.
Replace filters
Replace those filters every 3 months. Clogged filters force your system to work harder and, therefore, are a common cause for HVAC emergency repair calls. A clean filter is the easiest and most effective way to improve performance and extend the life of your HVAC system.
Don’t neglect routine maintenance
AC Dave Heating & Air recommends a minimum of two yearly maintenance check-ups. Maintenance can often uncover small issues before they become large problems. Our technicians will do everything necessary to ensure your AC is ready for the Summer.
Other personal tips on staying cool this Summer
As temperatures rise, it is important to remember that the elderly and infants struggle to regulate their bodies’ temperature. Here are some tips to keep them safe in the extreme heat:
Hydration
Make sure the elderly and infants are drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
Use extra fans if needed
If your loved ones are running a fever, use extra fans to keep them comfortable. If they are overheating, consider putting a damp cloth or towel around their shoulders or neck.
Dress appropriately
Lightweight or loose-fitting clothes will allow airflow. Your AC may also be set too low, in which case an extra sweater or blanket may suffice.
Stay indoors
Timing is everything. Do your chores in the morning or early evening. Plan other activities around the peak heat hours. If meeting up with friends, go to cooler areas such as shopping centers or restaurants.
