The aforementioned R-454B and R-32 have a lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) is aligning with global efforts to reduce the environmental impact of refrigerants that contribute to global warming and ozone depletion. The AIM Act targets an 85% reduction in HFC production and consumption by 2036, with 2025 marking a critical milestone for HVAC systems.

Therefore, 2025 regulations will further strain the supply chain for legacy refrigerants, under those circumstances making repairs increasingly costly and challenging to source.
