Why pour boiling water to kill eggs down my drain?

Do you ever wonder where all the flies and gnats come from? Well, you could be creating a nursery within your kitchen! Boil eggs in your drain! Pouring boiling water to kill eggs down my drain?

Fruit flies and gnats love to lay their eggs in places where there’s a constant supply of food and water. What better place than down your kitchen drain? Many of us have garbage disposal units in our drains. We use them to get rid of food scraps and waste, but do we regularly clean them properly?

The fruit flies and gnats know this, and select this area to lay their eggs. They are kept warm, fed, and watered throughout the year, so we want to help you reduce the problem, if not eradicate the issue for good.

A super simple fix is to pour boiling water into the drain to eliminate drain flies. if you don’t have a kettle, boil the water in a medium-sized saucepan, and once it reaches a rolling boil (For at least a minute), pour the boiling water down the drain once or twice a week.

For an extra precaution, you can mix 1/2 cup of salt with 1/2 cup of baking soda, and 1 cup of vinegar and using a drain brush (or toothbrush) clean around and in the drain, then rinse with the boiling water.

For those persistent gnats, mix the solution mentioned above, but when you pour the solution into the drain, let it sit overnight, then rinse with the boiling water. here is a link for more tips
